Just as people from out of state think that Idaho is nothing more than potatoes, people who aren’t from Boise don’t usually realize just how much the city has to offer. Sometimes even those of us who’ve spent most of our lives here overlook many of Boise’s hidden (and not-so-hidden) gems. As a born-and-raised Boise resident, I admit that more than once I’ve said: “There’s nothing to do here.”
Amanda Turner, local author of the new book 100 Things to Do in Boise Before You Die, set out to prove that statement false. “Boise is a city that exceeds expectations, from its landscape and history to the culture and people who proudly call themselves Boiseans,” Turner writes in the book’s preface. “May you find some unexpected gems in these pages and fall deeper in love with the Gem State yourself.”
