Alan J. Bartels’s life took a fortunate turn when his family moved to the edge of the Sandhills in the mid-1980s. While traveling the world with the US Army following high school, all he could think of was home. He’s the former editor of Nebraska Life magazine, and the author of What’s Going Down in Prairie Dog Town?
